Music projects

For me, music isn't a solo pursuit, it's collaborative: a mix of deep-dive songwriting, production, live performance, and helping friends bring their visions to life. This is an overview of the music projects, from electronic-pop to shoegaze-alt, that I'm building and supporting.
Flairgum
'Flairgum' is an evolution for Kahu and Florence who have been writing music and performing together since intermediate school in 2017. Moving from the indie-rock roots of Parallel Park into a polished electronic pop landscape, the duo blends intricate production with evocative lyricism.

Stay tuned - their first single drops on May 1st!
Dillon Jo
‘Dillon Jo’ is the genre-defying project of Wellington-based artists Betty Smith (Guitar + Vox), and Georgie Levien (Guitar + Vox), joined by Ruadh Munro (Drums), and Kahu Sanson-Burnett (Bass + Keys + Production).

Dillon Jo combines elements of dream pop, shoegaze, folk, alt rock, and indie pop. They've made an impact in Te Whanganui-a-Tara recently, playing numerous shows. Look out for a debut album later in 2026.
Felix Bird
Felix Bird is an Aotearoa alt-rock artist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington, whose sound navigates between clever honesty and lush, sonic craftsmanship. Felix’s writing highlights the best parts of many genres, including folk, indie, and alternative adjacent, amalgamating them all into a special aural journey. Kahu plays keys in the Felix Bird band.
Parallel Park
Parallel Park are a 5-piece indie rock band from Whakatū Nelson. A new single and music video 'Empty House' releases 17 April 2026.

Their self-recorded and self-produced debut Album 'Growing Taller' was released in February 2024 and their EP 'Parallel Park Vol. 1' was released in December 2022.
JOLA BURNS
JOLA BURNS is a live electronic pop duo from Whakatū Nelson. Their sound is an irresistible fusion of pop hooks and big beats. Onstage their energetic live performance, launching samples, drum pads, guitar and synths, captivates audiences.

Highlights include opening for Minuit at a sold out Meow Nui show, performing at summer festivals, playing for 7000 people at Nelson's Opera In The Park, and coming second in the 2023 Rockquest National Final.

JOLA BURNS is on the backburner with other projects, including Alyahna's soaring Imani-J project, taking precedence.
